What to bring

At preschool, children have access to both indoor and outdoor play-led activities every day. We ask that they arrive at pre-school in suitable clothing for the day. Each day may involve some messy activities so please do bring a spare set of clothes in a named bag to keep on your child’s peg in the entrance hall. We ask that all clothes and shoes are labelled with the child’s name. If you would like a Preschool polo shirt and/or sweatshirt, these are available to buy online from our uniform supplier Michael Hope. https://www.michaelhope.co.uk/products/school-shops/burbage-primary-school

If your child is still using nappies, we ask that you provide enough nappies, wipes and any nappy cream for the duration of their stay.

Keeping in touch

Preschool staff are available at the start and end of each session for you to let them know of any issues e.g. if your child hasn’t slept very well or has grazed their knee. In addition, we hold regular parents’ evenings for you to discuss your child’s progress. Weekly newsletters are sent by the school office giving details of the events in the weeks ahead.

If you would like to discuss any matters out of these times, please speak to the preschool manager or the school office to make an appointment.

Tapestry

When your child first joins Burbage Preschool and you have given us permission a Tapestry account will be set up for your child. You will receive login details to access updates on your child’s activities.  You will need to reset the password for security and confidentiality.

Tapestry will be regularly updated with photos and reports on your child’s activities whilst at preschool and allows you not only to view but also to like and write comments back

Topic

Each term we will have a new topic, the aim of which is to broaden the children’s knowledge of different subjects.  We will arrange many and varied activities around the current topic and keep you updated with pictures on Tapestry.  Details of the topic will be displayed in the lobby and in our newsletter.

Drop off and collection

All children are required to be signed in and out at the start and end of each session. If someone other than a contact recorded on the registration form is collecting your child, please inform pre-school staff so that the necessary arrangements can be made.

If you are going to be late picking up your child, please let us know as soon as possible. Late collection charges will apply after 5 minutes.

Late arrival/collection

Children should be dropped off by parents/carers into the care of a preschool member of staff and entered into the attendance register. Children will not be released into the care of anyone other than those named on the registration form unless authorised by the parent personally. In addition, a personal introduction by the parents of anyone who is named on the registration form and may be collecting the child is encouraged. A password system of authorisation is in place in case of emergencies.

Late collections will be charged at £5 initially with an additional £5 for every 5 minutes after the end of the child’s booked session. Late collection fees will be invoiced at the end of the month in which the late collection occurs.
