School Meals

Eating and playing together are important parts of the school day for our children. Families can choose whether to send in a packed lunch and drink to have at lunchtime or whether to have a hot meal provided by local catering provider Sue Brady Catering Ltd.

Throughout the lunchtime session the children are supervised by our Midday Supervisors, some of whom are also Teaching Assistants who bring classroom knowledge of the children to their midday break.

We offer hot lunches prepared locally by Sue Brady Catering Ltd who are able to provide nutritious food that is in line with national food quality standards.

Meals consist of main course and pudding and cost £2.60 per day. Parents are now able to order and pay for a child’s school meals online. Click on the link here to go to the secure website:

  • If your child is ill (or otherwise unable to attend school) you must contact Sue Brady Catering Ltd by 9am on the day in order to be credited for the meal. Telephone number 01672 519200.
  • Please remember to add your child’s name and class on each day they require lunch and to tick the option required.
  • Don’t forget to make a note of which days you have ordered a meal!

Alternatively, children can bring their own lunch box to school and they are strongly encouraged for their lunch to be made up of healthy food.

We are a nut free school and your child must not bring anything to school that contains nuts.

Lunchtime is from 12.15pm until 1.15pm and is eaten in the hall; usually the younger children eat first. When the children are not eating, they are out in the playground or on the school field if it is dry. The children are supervised at all times by our Midday Supervisory Assistants (MDSAs).

Universal Infant Free School Meals

All children in Reception, Y1 and Y2 are eligible for universal free school meals. We are keen to encourage all the children to have school lunches as research shows that having a good lunch helps learning and concentration. We have taster sessions where all children can try dishes from the school menu which we hope this will encourage them to eat them more regularly.

Free School Meals

Water Bottles Are Welcome in Classrooms

It is very important to drink plenty of water as this helps our brains work better. At Burbage Primary School we encourage children to bring in a named water bottle to use during the day. Only water should be drunk regularly in this way.

Children may drink squash, juice or milk at lunch time if parents wish. Water is available at lunchtime for all children in the Hall.

To accommodate the unique needs of each family, Burbage Primary School warmly invites you to our upcoming open morning and come and play sessions.

This is a great opportunity to see how children are at the centre of everything we do and chat to our established, talented and caring staff.
